An unfortunate truth persists in toy aisles: Most of the products that line the shelves do harm to our earth by utilizing plastics and other unsustainable materials. Playper is a brand that brings fantastical, buildable scenes to life in its signature not-quite-paper material. These scenes are rendered in Playboard, a plastic-free, 100% recyclable material with soy-based ink.
But what exactly is this “100% recyclable material”? According to Playper’s online FAQs, it’s a cardboard-based material with a velvety texture that’s biodegradable. And though it is recyclable, is not yet made from recycled materials.
